Saturday, December 12th at 11:00AM   Katie Simmons and Maureen Frew "I know what I want. I know what I need." Remember the feeling of a wearing new shoes? Follow the adventure through the eyes of a child to find the perfect shoes. Meet the authors, Katie Simmons and Maureen Frew, who are both kindergarten teachers in Pittsburgh, PA.   Rob Rogers Author of No Cartoon Left Behind! Rob is the political cartoonist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.  Born in Philadelphia, Rogers took advantage of big city culture. He copied his favorite characters out of the Philadelphia Inquirer's comic pages and enrolled in Saturday art classes at the museum. It soon became evident that he had a talent for art, which also limited his career options.   Larry R. Slater Meet the author, get your book signed and help support Old Economy Village.  50% of the author's proceeds will be donated to Old Economy Village. Penguin Bookshop will match Mr. Slater's donation.   Mr. Slater, a trained archivist and historian, owns a market research consultancy in Pittsburgh. Photographs for this book came largely from the archives of Old Economy Village and the Laughlin Memorial Library. Carrie Kennedy author of Panorama. "Through its stylish design, engaging prose, and remarkable clarity, Panorama makes an enormous contribution toward the heightening of our cultural literacy." (Read More...)   Terence Hawkins "Blood. Guts. Pride. Wrath. The Rage of Achilles tells the story of Achilles, a monstrous hero, by turns vain and selfish, cruel and noble; of Paris, weak and consumed by lust for his stolen bride; of Agamemnon, driven nearly to insanity by the voices of the gods; and of Trojans and Achaeans, warriors and peasants, caught up in the conflict, their families torn apart by a decade-long war. The Rage of Achilles is an exhilarating story that has captured the imaginations of readers for thousands of years restored to immediacy."   Brian Butko These are just some of the things I love to research and write about. My books have a common theme - to document people, places, and things that go mostly unnoticed by other historians. I was a long-time board member of the Society for Commercial Archeology and still design and copyedit their Journal. I'm also a founding director of the Lincoln Highway Association. Weekdays you'll find me at the Senator John Heinz History Center where I edit Western Pennsylvania History magazine.
